Ph.D. in Economics (University of Warsaw, 1984), graduate of econometrics (SGPiS, Warsaw School of Economics, 1970). Fulbright Scholar (1975/1976). In the 70s, he worked as a statistician, and in 1991 – 1992 as the president of the Central Statistical Office. Other workplaces: UN Economic Commission for Europe (1977-1980), Institute of Scientific Policy (1982-1984), Institute of Economics at the Polish Academy of Sciences (1985-1990). Since 1992, with the Gdansk Institute for Market Economics.

Member of the "Poland Forecasts 2000+" Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, expert of the Polish Parliament and the Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan, member of the Scientific Statistical Council. Visiting lecturer in several Polish universities. Vice-chairman of the Board of the Polish Economist Society. His works are published in daily, weekly and monthly economic press. He specialises in applied economics, macroeconomic analysis and sector surveys. The author of numerous reports, studies and scientific articles.
